Genevieve Bujold stars as Anne Boleyn in the story of her marriage to Henry VIII.

Blackadder Part II- 1985
Miranda Richardson plays a delightfully demented Queen Elizabeth I in this comedy series.

Carry On Henry (VIII) - 1971
Historical comedy about Henry and gang.

Crossed Swords- 1978
(Also known as "The Prince and the Pauper")
In this version of Mark Twain's novel, Edward, the only son of Henry VIII trades places with a boy from the London slums.

Elizabeth - 1998
This most recent Tudor drama takes some liberties with history, but shines in settings and costumes. Cate Blanchette stars as Elizabeth, Joseph Fiennes as Robert Dudley, Geoffrey Rush as Sir Francis Walsingham. [more on this movie]

Glenda Jackson stars as Elizabeth I in this excellent costume drama.

Elizabeth the Queen (TV)
Television play from the 1970 based on the Maxwell Anderson play. Judith Anderson is Elizabeth I, and Charlton Heston is Essex.

Execution of Mary Stuart, The - 1895
Directed by Thomas A. Edison, one of the first movies ever made.

Fire Over England- 1937
Set during the time of the Armada. Stars Flora Robson as Elizabeth I, Raymond Massey as Philip II of Spain. Also starring Lawrence Olivier and Vivien Leigh.

BBC production, based on the play by William Shakespeare.

Henry VIII and His Six Wives- 1973
A film version of the BBC television series. Keith Michell stars again as Henry, but the wives' actresses are different from the television series.

In the Shadow of the Tower- 1972
James Maxwell plays Henry VII is a TV series similar to "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" and "Elizabeth R".

Lady Jane- 1986
Helena Bonham Carter stars as the tragic Queen of Nine Days.

Documentary with scenes from the play Richard III, starring and directed by Al Pacino

Loves of Mary Queen of Scots, The - 1923
Silent film about the ill-fated Queen.

Man for All Seasons, A- 1966
Based on the play by Robert Bolt about the refusal of Sir Thomas More to support the break with the Catholic Church by Henry VIII. Paul Scofield delivers an excellent performance as More.

(Also known as "Tudor Rose")
An early telling of the tale of Jane Grey, that begins with the death of Henry VIII.

Orlando-1992
Quentin Crisp plays Elizabeth I in this bizarre tale based on Virginia Woolf's novel.

Bette Davis plays Elizabeth I and Errol Flynn is the dashing Earl of Essex.
Also known as "Elizabeth and Essex" and "Elizabeth the Queen"

Queen Elizabeth- 1927
Sarah Bernhardt stars as the Queen in this silent movie.

(There have been several film versions of Richard III. I've included the best known. Henry VII makes an appearance, so I guess it counts as a Tudor movie! See also "Looking for Richard, above")

Italian film with the full cast of Elizabethan characters. Rod Taylor as Sir Francis Drake, Irene Worth as Elizabeth I.

Shakespeare in Love - 1998
Joseph Fiennes stars as the Bard himself. Dame Judi Dench plays the older Queen Elizabeth I.

Six Wives of Henry VIII, The (TV series)-1971
Keith Michell stars as Henry VIII in this 6-part BBC series.

The Sword and the Rose, 1953
(Also known as "When Knighthood was in Flower")
Starring Glynis Johns. The tale of Mary Tudor (sister of Henry VIII) and Charles Brandon.

The Tower of London- 1939
Basil Rathbone as Richard III. (Actually, this is sort of outside of the time period, but the character of Henry Tudor is included)

The Virgin Queen- 1955
Bette Davis stars again as Elizabeth I.

Young Bess- 1953
Jean Simmons plays the teenage Princess Elizabeth. Stewart Grainger is Thomas Seymour and Deborah Kerr as Queen Katherine Parr.
