The movie Elizabeth is a powerful film that depicts the life of Elizabeth I.

While we watch the film, we learn about the insecurities of Elizabeth’s older half sister Mary who was convinced that Elizabeth was plotting against her.

We also learn about Elizabeth’s affair with Lord Robert Dudley and Elizabeth’s struggle to prove herself as the queen of England.

Elizabeth is a film that truly gives the viewer an eye opening experience into the life of the youngest daughter of King Henry VIII and gives you a taste of the English side too.

The film was filmed on location in North Humberland, Derbyshire, London and the county of Durham and was directed by Shekhar Kapur.

Cate Blanchett gives a passionate and brilliant performance as Elizabeth I, a role which earned her a best actress award at the Golden Globe awards.

The film also stars Joseph Fiennes as Robert Dudley, Christopher Eccleston as the duke of Norfolk, Geoffery Rush as Wallsingham, Sir Richard Attenborough as Sir William Cecil and Kathy Burke as Mary Tudor aka Bloody Mary.

For anyone who is interested in the life of Elizabeth I before and during her reign as the soverign majesty of England this movie is a must see.
